Considering the emergence of a global geography of art since the late 1980s — in particular through the exhibition Les Magiciens de la terre shown at the Parisian contemporary art museum Le Centre Georges Pompidou in 1989 — Kantuta Quiros and Aliocha Imhoff (together as curatorial Platform Le peuple qui manque) chose to gather around thirty guests from various backgrounds (such as sociologists, artists, writers, art theorists, etc) to try and imagine new contemporary geoaesthetic regimes through diplomatic debate.
The scenography of the Beyond the Magiciens Effect’s symposium is the outcome of their collaboration with Adel Cersaque.
